Who can apply for certification?
Individual artists and makers may apply when they remain the creative authors of the work they present under the Mark. Certification is issued to the individual creator, not to a studio, company, team, group or collaborative practice.
What does the Maker Verified Mark mean?
The Mark signifies that the certified artist or maker maintains human authorship over the creative practice represented under it. The defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions remain their own rather than being generated by AI. Certification applies to the individual creator and reviewed practice, not to every individual artwork, product, edition or collection.
Is the Maker Verified Mark attached to an artist or to an individual work?
Maker Verified certifies the artist or maker. It does not separately certify each artwork, edition, product or collection. The Mark identifies an individual creator whose practice was reviewed against the program standard and whose certification can be checked publicly.
Does the Mark mean that no technology was used?
No. Artists and makers may use ordinary tools, equipment, software and outside production. The standard focuses on the defining creative content. Those ideas, images, writing and decisions must come from the individual creator rather than generative AI.
