The defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions that give the work its identity remain with the artist or maker.
Public verification
The certified artist or maker’s name and certification number can be checked in the official Maker Verified registry.

The person remains responsible for what the work becomes.
A finished image does not always explain how it was made. Generative AI can make authorship harder to judge from the finished work alone.
Human-made does not mean technology-free. Artists and makers may use tools, software, equipment, machinery and repeatable processes. What matters is that the defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions remain their own rather than being generated by AI.

The Mark is backed by more than a promise.
Artists and makers do not award the Mark to themselves. Certification is approved only after Maker Verified reviews the applicant’s creative practice against the published Standard.

Every applicant is reviewed against the same requirements for human creative authorship and truthful representation.
An individual review
Application materials, signed declarations and a brief interview provide context about how the artist or maker actually creates.
A public record
The registry shows whether a certification is current, giving buyers a place to check the claim before they buy.
WHAT CERTIFICATION MEANS
A defined meaning, with defined limits.
Certification identifies the certified artist or maker and the creative practice reviewed under the Standard. It is intentionally specific so the claim remains useful to buyers.
The Mark means
The artist or maker completed the Maker Verified review. Their application, required documents and interview were reviewed before certification was approved.
They signed the Human Authorship Declaration. The applicant formally attested to the responsibilities required under the Standard.
The reviewed practice met the Standard at the time of certification. Certification applies to the individual and the practice reviewed, not to a blanket category of work.
The certification can be publicly checked. The registry provides the current certification status.
The Mark does not mean
Every artwork or product was separately certified. Maker Verified does not individually inspect or certify each artwork, product, edition or collection.
The work was appraised for artistic quality or financial value. Certification addresses human authorship and truthful representation, not taste, price or investment value.
Maker Verified determined legal originality or provenance. The Mark is not a legal originality opinion or a provenance guarantee.
The Mark replaces ordinary buyer judgment. Buyers should still evaluate materials, suitability, safety and purchasing terms for themselves.
