FOR ARTISTS & MAKERS
Make human-made impossible to miss.
Maker Verified gives artists and makers an independent way to show that their ideas, artistic decisions and finished creative work are human-generated, not AI-generated.
No Cost to Apply
About 10 Minutes to Apply
The application asks for straightforward information about what you make, how you make it and the role you personally play in the process.
A Short 10–15 Minute Interview
The verification interview is a brief conversation about your real creative practice, not an artistic critique, portfolio review or test of your ability.
WHY CERTIFICATION MATTERS NOW
Your work should not have to compete with uncertainty about how it was made.
AI-generated imagery, automated product creation and mass-produced imitation are making it harder for buyers to tell the difference between human creative work and content produced without meaningful human authorship.
You already know the time, judgment, skill and personal responsibility behind your work. Maker Verified gives you a way to make that difference visible without asking every buyer to simply take your word for it. The Mark connects your public claim to an independent standard and a record buyers, galleries and platforms can verify for themselves.
WHAT CERTIFICATION DOES FOR YOU
Turn the integrity behind your work into something buyers can recognize.
Certification gives you more than a logo. It creates a consistent public trust system around your creative practice.
01
Stand Apart
Give buyers a visible reason to distinguish your work from AI-generated content, imitation and unclear production claims.
02
Build Buyer Trust
Replace a vague human-made claim with an independent standard and a public record buyers can check before purchasing.
03
Look Established
Use a polished certificate, badge, profile and marketing assets across your website, packaging, portfolio and professional materials.
04
Be Easier to Verify
Give buyers, galleries and platforms one official destination for confirming your identity, scope, certification dates and current status.
YOUR CERTIFICATION TOOLKIT
Everything you need to put the certification to work.
Approved makers receive a coordinated set of public-facing materials designed to make certification easy to display, explain and verify.
ONE MARK, WHEREVER YOUR WORK IS FOUND
Build recognition across every buyer touchpoint.
Your certification should work wherever buyers discover, evaluate and purchase your work.
Display the Mark on your website, portfolio, artist biography and social profiles. Add it to gallery materials, press kits, marketplace profiles, packaging, hang tags, booth signage, email signatures and promotions. Each use can connect buyers directly to your public verification profile, creating one consistent trust signal across your entire creative business.
IS MAKER VERIFIED FOR YOU?
Built for independent creators across traditional and contemporary disciplines.
You do not need to work entirely alone or avoid ordinary tools, software, machinery or outside services. What matters is that meaningful creative authorship remains human and that your process is represented honestly.
A Strong Fit
Painters, illustrators, sculptors, ceramicists, photographers, printmakers, textile artists, jewelers, leatherworkers, furniture makers, woodworkers, fashion designers, digital artists and other independent creators may apply. Studios and collaborative practices may also qualify when the applicant’s role, creative control and relevant production relationships are disclosed accurately.
What Matters Most
The core ideas and defining creative decisions originate with you. You remain responsible for the creative direction and final result. AI is not used to generate the original concepts, imagery, writing or other defining creative elements of the work. Collaborators, assistants, fabrication and outside services are disclosed when relevant to understanding the practice.
A STRAIGHTFORWARD PROCESS
Built to understand your practice without creating unnecessary barriers.
Clear, honest answers matter more than polished language, professional photography or a formal artist statement.
01
Apply
Tell us what you create, how your ideas develop, which tools and materials you use and whether collaborators or outside services participate in the work.
02
Sign the Declaration
Confirm that meaningful human authorship, judgment, skill and creative control remain central to your practice and that the information provided is accurate.
03
Complete the Interview
Join a short 10–15 minute conversation about your real creative process. The interview is designed to clarify the application, not judge the quality or value of your work.
04
Put Certification to Work
Once approved, access your certificate, approved Mark files, public verification profile and buyer-facing promotional materials.
Get certified while the founding offer is available.
Founding certification is currently free for a limited time. There is no cost to submit the application, and the process is designed to be completed without hiring a consultant, preparing a formal portfolio presentation or changing the way you already explain your work.
Start with the work you already do.
You do not need to create special samples for Maker Verified. Describe your actual practice, provide optional supporting materials when helpful and be prepared to discuss the process honestly during the interview.
BEFORE YOU APPLY
The questions artists usually ask first.
The standard is focused on meaningful human authorship, not a romanticized idea that every artist must work alone or avoid modern tools.
Do I need to make every part of my work entirely by hand?
No. You may use ordinary tools, equipment, software, machinery and repeatable processes. The central question is whether meaningful creative authorship, judgment and control remain human and whether the process is represented honestly.
Can I work with assistants, collaborators or outside fabricators?
Yes. Collaboration and outside production do not automatically prevent certification. Your role, creative control and relevant relationships must be disclosed accurately, and the certified practice must continue to meet the standard.
Does Maker Verified judge the quality of my work?
No. The process does not rank your talent, style, originality, price or commercial value. Maker Verified evaluates whether your disclosed creative process and working practices meet the published certification requirements.
Do I need a professional website or polished portfolio?
No. A public website or portfolio is helpful when available, but clear information about your real creative practice matters more than professional presentation. Supporting images, studio photographs and process materials are optional unless additional information is requested during review.
Does certification apply to every individual piece I sell?
Certification applies to your approved identity and disclosed creative practice. It does not represent a separate inspection or certification of every artwork, product, edition or collection.
HONEST WORK DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED
Give buyers a reason to believe the human story behind your work.
The application takes about 10 minutes. Founding certification is currently free for a limited time. Start with a straightforward explanation of the work you already make.
