Maker Verified certification applies to an individual artist or maker and their reviewed creative practice. It does not apply to a studio, company, team or collaborative practice.
Your authorship remains central
The defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions come from you, including when you work under a studio or business name.
Technology can support the work
Human-made does not mean technology-free. Tools, equipment and software may support your process, but generative AI cannot generate or materially determine the defining creative content in the certified practice.
Other people may contribute
Assistants, contractors, printers, framers and fabricators may contribute when you retain the defining creative role and describe their contributions accurately.

Human-made does not mean technology-free. The Standard focuses on whether the defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions remain yours rather than being generated or materially determined by generative AI.
Can I use generative AI or other digital tools?
Human-made does not mean technology-free. Ordinary digital tools, equipment, software and AI used for non-creative tasks may support your practice. Generative AI may not create the defining ideas, imagery, patterns, compositions or other creative content covered by certification. Authorship must remain with you.
Can assistants or outside fabricators help me?
Yes. Assistants and outside specialists may contribute when you retain the defining creative role and describe their contributions accurately. Their own creative practice is not covered by your certification.
Does Maker Verified judge the quality of my work?
No. Maker Verified does not assess artistic quality, financial value or personal preference. It reviews the disclosed creative practice against the published Maker Verified Standard.
Does certification apply to every individual work?
No. Maker Verified verifies the reviewed creative practice of an individual artist or maker. It does not inspect, authenticate or individually certify every artwork, product, edition or collection.
