What It Confirms

What It Does Not Confirm
Certification does not judge artistic quality, originality, price or commercial value. It does not verify ownership or authenticity, and it does not separately certify every artwork or product.
When Specific Details Matter
Ask the creator or seller about materials, production, ownership, edition history or other details of a particular work. Certification supports that conversation, but it does not replace it.

The Mark answers an important question about the creator’s practice. These answers explain how to understand and use that claim responsibly.
Does the Mark mean every individual work is separately certified?
No. Certification applies to the individual and the reviewed creative practice. Maker Verified does not separately inspect or certify each artwork, product, edition or collection.
Does human-made mean the creator cannot use tools or software?
No. Artists and makers may use tools, equipment, software, machinery and production assistance. What must remain human are the defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions. Generative AI may not create that defining content.
What information appears in the registry?
The registry shows the certified individual’s name and certification number. An expanded directory profile is separate and appears only when the creator chooses to publish one.
What should I do if a certification claim appears misleading?
Submit a good-faith concern with the creator’s name, certification number when available, relevant links, dates and lawfully obtained supporting information. A submitted concern does not by itself establish a violation.
