You do not need to work in a particular medium or make everything by hand. Certification recognizes that the defining ideas, artistic expression and creative decisions in the work remain yours.

WHAT WE REVIEW
We look at how your work moves from idea to finished form.
The application and interview are designed to understand your real creative practice, not test how well you describe it. We verify your identity, talk with you about where your ideas begin, and review the tools, technology and outside support involved in making the work.
The questions change with the discipline. A photographer, ceramicist, furniture maker and digital artist do not work the same way, so each practice is considered in its own context. The constant is authorship: you remain responsible for the decisions that give the work its identity.
TOOLS, SUPPORT & GENERATIVE AI
Human-made does not mean technology-free.
Cameras, design software, kilns, presses, CNC equipment, sewing machines, casting, printing and other human-directed methods can all be part of an eligible practice. Assistants, contractors and fabricators may also contribute when you retain the defining creative role and describe their contributions accurately.
AI may be used for bookkeeping, scheduling, inventory, website administration or similar operational work. It cannot create the original concepts, imagery, writing, compositions, patterns or other defining creative content presented under your certification.
WHEN A PRACTICE DOES NOT QUALIFY
Work created by generative AI falls outside the Standard.
A practice does not qualify when generative AI creates the content that defines the work and the person’s role is limited to prompting, selecting among generated results or making minor edits.
Eligibility also depends on honest disclosure. Concealing or minimizing the role of AI, automation or outside production can prevent certification or place an existing certification at risk.
Maker Verified does not judge style, artistic quality, price or commercial success. The review is limited to human authorship and accurate representation of the creative practice.

What if my exact discipline is not listed?
The discipline wall shows examples, not a closed list. You may apply if your title or combination of practices is not shown, provided the work meets the Standard for individual human authorship.
Do I have to make everything entirely by hand?
No. Human-made does not mean technology-free or unsupported. Tools, software, machinery and outside production may be part of the process when you remain responsible for the defining creative decisions.
Can a studio, company or team apply?
Certification is issued to an individual. You may work under an associated studio or business name, but the company, team and other creators are not certified through your application.
What if I am still unsure whether my practice qualifies?
Apply with an honest description of your process or contact Maker Verified with the specific point you are unsure about. The review is designed to consider tools, production methods and creative disciplines in context.
