The certification makes a specific claim about the individual and creative practice that were reviewed. It does not extend beyond that scope.
Maker Verified is not an AI-detection service and does not attempt to determine authorship by scanning a finished image or object. Certification decisions are based on the creator’s disclosed practice, signed documents, interview and reasonable supporting information when clarification is needed.
Certification applies to the individual and the creative practice that was reviewed. It is not a separate inspection of every artwork, product, edition or collection, and it is not issued to studios, companies or teams. An artist may work under a business or studio name, but the certification belongs to the individual.
Maker Verified does not judge artistic quality, originality or commercial value. It does not appraise work, establish ownership, authenticate provenance or guarantee a transaction.
The registry is the official verification record. It is created when an artist or maker is approved and shows the certified individual’s name and certification number.
The directory is optional. Certified artists and makers may choose to publish an expanded profile with a photograph, biography, discipline, location, website and social links. Publishing or removing that profile does not change the registry record or certification.

Maker Verified certification applies to the certified artist, maker, or creator and the disclosed creative process reviewed against the Maker Verified Standard. Certification reflects Maker Verified’s review of whether the defining ideas, artistic expression, creative judgment, and creative decisions within that process remain human-led rather than generated or materially determined by generative AI. Certification does not mean that a person, studio, business, workflow, or individual work is completely free from artificial intelligence or other technology. Maker Verified does not certify individual works as “AI-free,” separately inspect or authenticate each work, or guarantee any particular work, product, listing, claim, sale, or transaction.
Certification is not a warranty or guarantee of artistic quality, originality, authenticity, ownership, legality, value, provenance, condition, intellectual property rights, or future compliance with the Maker Verified Standard.
