A MARK DESIGNED TO ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION

Was this Human-made?

Maker Verified does not replace the story of the artist, the quality of the work or the judgment of the buyer. It gives those things a trustworthy starting point by confirming that the creator has completed a defined certification process and agreed to an ongoing standard of human authorship and transparency.

WHY THE MARK IS TRUSTED

More than a self-selected badge.

Independent Review

Every applicant is evaluated against the same published requirements before certification is granted.

Human Creative Authorship

The creator must retain meaningful control over the ideas, decisions and expressive direction of the work.

Publicly Verifiable

Buyers can confirm the creator’s identity, certification status and current standing through the public Maker Verified registry.

WHY THE MARK EXISTS

Human-made should be visible.

Buyers are increasingly asked to distinguish handmade work from mass production, misleading claims and AI-generated imitation. The Maker Verified Mark creates a clear, recognizable signal that a real person stands behind the creative work.

ABOUT THE MARK

Understanding the standard behind the Mark.

Clear information about how the Mark applies, how it may be used and what current certification means.

Is the Maker Verified Mark attached to an artist or to an individual work?

Maker Verified certifies the artist or maker. It does not separately certify each artwork, edition, product or collection. The Mark identifies a creator who has met the program standard and whose current certification can be checked publicly.

Can certified makers change the color of the Mark?

Certified makers receive approved mark files and usage guidance. The Mark should only be displayed in authorized color treatments, proportions and contexts so that it remains recognizable and trustworthy.

Does the Mark mean that no technology was used?

No. Artists and makers may use ordinary tools, equipment and non-creative software. The standard focuses on meaningful creative authorship. Ideas, expressive decisions and the creative direction of the work must originate with the human creator rather than being generated by artificial intelligence.

Can certification expire or be revoked?

Yes. Certification is time-limited and must be renewed. Certification may also be suspended or revoked when a creator no longer meets the standard, misuses the Mark or provides materially false or misleading information.
